Website & care plan agreement.
Plain English, no lawyer-speak. No contract, no lock-in, cancel anytime. By paying us, you agree to these terms. If anything here ever conflicts with another document, this one controls.
Between Good Internet Company LLC (doing business as Good Website Company) and you, our customer. Last updated June 17, 2026.
The deal
We build you a website (your "site") and we host it for you. What your site does depends on what we built for you. Most of our sites are informational and lead-gen: they tell people about your business and let them contact you through a contact form. If your site takes payments, bookings, or runs a store, that's covered by the separate scope we quoted for that work.
Your website build is a one-time price we quote up front: most websites are $500, one-page sites are $250, and bigger jobs we quote flat. To keep your site online and looked after, you subscribe to our Keep It Running plan, billed monthly through Stripe. If we ever agreed a different or bundled arrangement with you in writing (for example, a reduced or waived build fee in exchange for the monthly plan), that written arrangement is what applies to you.
Each of us is giving the other something of value, so this agreement is binding once you agree to it and complete a payment through Stripe.
Keep It Running
Keep It Running is our one monthly plan: $35 a month for standard service (the exact amount you pay is shown at checkout, and if we agreed a different rate with you, that rate is what you pay). It starts when your site launches. For your monthly plan you get:
- Hosting on our infrastructure (Cloudflare)
- Security and software updates
- Uptime monitoring
- Periodic backups
- Help connecting and pointing your domain (DNS)
- A real person who answers, by email or message
- Small content edits included, like text swaps, photo swaps, and updates. As a fair-use guide, up to about 30 minutes a month. Unused time doesn't roll over. Bigger work like new pages, a redesign, or a store is quoted separately.
Recurring billing (Stripe)
You pay your monthly plan through Stripe. The amount is shown at checkout. Your card is entered and stored securely by Stripe; we don't store your full card number. The card you enter at Stripe is the card this authorization applies to. We email you a receipt each month, and the charge shows on your statement as a Good Website Company / Good Internet Company LLC charge.
If a charge is declined, Stripe retries over up to 7 days and we email you. If it's still unpaid after 7 days, we may pause the site until your card is updated. We won't charge you for any period the site is paused; billing resumes when you update your card.
We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before we ever change your price.
By entering your card and completing checkout through Stripe, you authorize Good Internet Company LLC (doing business as Good Website Company) to charge your card automatically the monthly amount shown at checkout, on or about the same calendar day each month (if that day doesn't exist in a given month, on the last day of that month), starting on the date of your first payment. This subscription renews automatically each month and continues until you cancel by emailing internet@goodwebsiteco.com. There are no refunds for partial months. If you're ever charged in error or after you cancel, we'll refund that charge.
Cancel anytime, no lock-in
You can cancel anytime, no penalty, no minimum term. Three easy ways: email internet@goodwebsiteco.com, reply to any billing receipt, or text (304) 381-1675. To stop the next charge, cancel at least 1 business day before your renewal date. We'll email a cancellation confirmation within 2 business days; if you don't get one, contact us so a charge isn't missed.
Here's exactly what happens when you cancel:
- Your card is not charged again.
- Your site stays live through the end of the month you already paid for.
- After that, we keep it online for about 14 more days as a grace window so you can move it, then we take the hosted copy offline.
- We don't refund partial months. If we ever charge you in error or after you cancelled, email us and we'll refund that charge.
Who owns what
- Your domain is yours. You buy and own your domain (about $15/year) in your own name. We don't buy or register domains for you; we only help connect it. You control your registrar account at all times. If your domain's DNS is managed inside our Cloudflare account for hosting, then on request we'll give you your DNS records or move DNS back to your control so you can repoint your domain yourself. After you cancel, we have no obligation to keep maintaining your DNS.
- Your content is yours. The text, photos, and testimonials you give us are yours.
- Your site files, your copy any time. We provide and host the site as part of this plan. You can ask for a copy of your site files at any time, not just when you cancel, and we'll send it within 14 days at no charge: a downloadable zip with the static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image assets, plus the source files, so any web person can host it elsewhere. We hand you this export package at launch too, so you always have your own copy. You're never locked in.
- Your contact form. Your contact form runs through a third-party form service on a GWC account. If you leave, we'll either move the form to your own account or give you the form setup so a new host can reconnect it, so no leads are lost or sent to the wrong place. (Heads up: until that reconnection happens, your exported site's form won't be live, so reconnect it before relying on it.)
- Our toolkit is ours. The reusable code, templates, and tools we build every site on stay ours; you're free to keep using your delivered site for your business.
- Accounts. We host your site on GWC's own Cloudflare account and bill your monthly plan through GWC's Stripe. Those accounts stay ours. Your domain and your content are yours, as above.
- Before we ever pause or take your site offline for non-payment or after a cancellation, we'll email you first and include your site export, so you're never left without a copy.
- Portfolio. We may show your site in our portfolio. Tell us if you'd rather we not.
Your part
- You buy and keep your own domain in your own name and keep it renewed.
- You give us accurate content, and you confirm any photos, logos, testimonials, reviews, and claims you give us are true and that you have permission to use them.
- The leads people send through your contact form are yours to follow up on; how you use them is your responsibility.
- If a problem comes from content you gave us (your photos, logos, testimonials, reviews, or claims) or from your business itself, that one is on you, not us.
The fine print, kept short
- No guarantees of results. We aim for a site that's up and works well, but we don't guarantee any specific traffic, leads, bookings, sales, search rankings, or 100% uptime. The site is provided as-is and as-available.
- Not your business partner. We build and host a website. We're an independent contractor, not your partner, employee, or agent, and we have no role in running your business.
- Liability limit. Our total responsibility for any claim under this agreement won't be more than the greater of the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months or $250. We aren't responsible for indirect or lost-profit type damages, or for third-party outages (Cloudflare, your domain registrar, and the like).
- Law. West Virginia law applies; any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Monongalia County, West Virginia, and we'll try to work it out by talking first.
- This is the whole deal. This page controls if it ever conflicts with another document. Changes must be in writing (email is fine). Electronic signatures and an emailed "I agree" count.
- Privacy. How we handle the information your site collects is covered in our Privacy & cookies page.
